The House of Magsarili is the culmination of a lifelong journey: Learning to embrace yourself today while building a better tomorrow
From a young age, Generosa knew the reality that she was living was not the life she wanted for herself. Her childhood was pock marked with drug, sexual, and emotional abuse which resulted in a lifetime battle with chronic illness.
"To paint the picture... I learned to roll a joint by the age of six... the standard growing up was: graduate high school and not get pregnant."

As a latch-key kid with the TV as the babysitter, Generosa clung to fictional characters for identity.
"Being mixed raced, I really struggled with my identity. For decades I would resonate with various movie characters and their looks. I had my 'Flashdance' phase, pixie haircut 'Ghost' look, and who could forget my 'Pretty Woman' era?"
Generosa did rise above her circumstances: she became the first in her family to graduate high school & attend college. In her adult years, she continued to trailblaze and end harmful generational cycles by seeking to heal, grow, but most importantly...forgive.
Fast forward to 2016, a newly licensed real estate agent, Generosa made a purchase that transformed the way she saw herself.

"My first purchase after I closed my first transaction was a nice coat. I had never spent that much money on myself before - it actually made me feel nauseous to
'Confirm Order.'
But as soon as I put the coat on, my hesitation was replaced with elation. It was the first purchase, the first piece of self expression, that made me see a glimmer of me… the me I yearned to see.
My coat started a process of release: while embracing me in warmth, it served as a catalyst to embrace myself...the unique traits that I had been taught to despise I discovered were valuable strengths."

In the quiet moments—through prayer, journaling, and scripture—I began to understand that the transformation I experienced wasn’t just about fashion.
It was healing from the inside out.
I discovered that what covers us can comfort us, and that what we wear can carry deeper meaning.
The House of Magsarili was born not just from fashion—
but from faith."
This revelation became the impetus for The House of Magsarili: to share the joy that comes from embracing the person you are now while pursuing healing and growth today, the day after, and the day after that.
No matter where you are in your journey, know that you are always welcome at The House of Magsarili.

We wanted a coat that was created to live in, to throw in the front seat of the car or slip into before a long flight. We wanted a coat that made us feel polished without slowing down our movement — so that’s exactly what we’ve made.
