"After my dear father-in-law's passing, I acquired his favorite barong tagalog. When I tried it on, I felt as if I were truly seeing myself for the first time. I carefully selected pieces to complement the barong and create an outfit. This outfit made me feel congruent, confident, relaxed, peaceful, strong, and sexy. Wearing this outfit, I felt like a force of nature while being completely at home.

Though it's tempting to wear it every day, that simply isn't practical. How could I create those same feelings that my outfit brought me? It suddenly occurred to me, as a designer of outerwear, to make a hoodie inspired by this traditional Philippine garment.
